A Place for Your Craft at
Bayan Ceramics

At Bayan Ceramics, we believe that the most beautiful things are never made alone. Our name is rooted in the spirit of Bayanihan: the ancient Filipino tradition of neighbors coming together to carry what no single pair of hands could hold.

In our studio, that spirit extends beyond our members and students — it reaches outward to the makers, artists, and creators in our community who are building something of their own. We are not just a ceramics studio. We are a platform for artists and makers — a sanctuary where art is made, shared, celebrated, and brought into the world together.

We offer four ways to grow alongside us: Shelf, Market, Gallery, and Collaborative Workshop.

  • Pillar 1: The Shelf Partner

    A Home for Your Work

Focus: Retail presence, consignment, and community visibility.

Just as a well-thrown vessel needs a place to rest and be seen, every maker's work deserves a home that honors it. We call that home Tahanan — the Filipino word for the place where you belong. Our curated shelves inside Bayan’s studio are exactly that: a place where your work ishled with care, discovered with intention, and welcomed into the hands of an Oak Park Community that comes here to create, gather, and find beauty in the handmade.

The Opportunity: You bring the work. We bring the audience. As a Bayan shelf partner, your handmade piece live inside our gallery and are sold through our studio - on a shelf that belongs to you for your term. Whether you choose a monthly rotation, a quarterly commitment, or annual partnership, you set the prices, you own the inventory, and you keep the majority of every sale.

The Spirit: Craftsmanship, intention, and the belief that handmade objects deserve to be held by people who will love them.

    • Shelf sizes: Small - Medium - Large

    • Terms: Rotation - Quarterly - Semi-Annual - Annual

    • Consignment Split: 65% - 72% to the maker, depending on the term

  • Pillar 2: The Makers Market

    Your Table, Your Terms

Focus: Direct sales, community events, and maker visibility.

Bayanihan is at its most alive when makers gather. The Bayan Bazaar is a curated community market - held at and around our studio - where independent artists and craftspeople sell directly to the public. This is your space, your sales, and your story to tell.

The Opportunity: Reserve a booth at the quarterly Bayan Bazaar and bring your full collection to an audience that already believes in the power of handmade. You process your own transactions, keep 100% of your sales, and show your work alongside a carefully curated community of makers who share the Bayanihan spirit.

The Spirit: Independence, community, and the joy of placing something you made into the hands of someone who needed it.

    • Single Booth Table.

    • Sales: 100% yours - no commission, no consignment, curated application process.

    • Makers participation fee.

  • Pillar 3: The Gallery Show

    Your Art, Centered

Focus: Exhibition, storytelling, and artistic recognition

There are pieces that are meant to be used — and pieces that are meant to be felt from across the room. Bayan’s gallery is a sanctuary for both.

Our rotating shows are acts of celebration: a dedicated season of light given to an individual artist or collective, a community invited to bear witness, and a space that understands what every maker knows — that the hardest part is not the making. It is the moment you place your work in front of others and trust that it will be received with the reverence it deserves. That moment belongs to you here.

The Opportunity: Propose a solo, duo, or group exhibition in the Bayan gallery. Whether you work in ceramics, fiber, jewelry, paint, wood, mixed media, or any discipline shaped by human hands and creative vision — if your work speaks to the themes of community, wellness, and intentional living, there is a wall, a light, and an audience here that is ready to receive it. Gallery shows are selected seasonally and supported with Bayan’s full event programming, social presence, and community reach. You bring the work. We bring the village.

The Spirit: Vision, vulnerability, and the courage to say — this is what I made, and it matters.

    • Exhibition formats: Solo - Duo - Group Collective

    • Seasonal Selection: Open proposal process

    • All artistic mediums welcome

    • Sales and revenue arrangements discussed individually

  • Pillar 4: The Collaborative Workshop

Where Two Crafts Become One Expeience

Focus: Co-branded events, experiential programming, and community-building

The most powerful thing Bayanihan teaches us is this: when two makers/artists bring their gifts together, they create something neither could offer along. The Bayan Collaborative Workshop series is built on exactly that truth.

The Opportunity: Are you a maker/artist whose craft pairs naturally with clay? A soap artist who dreams of pairing your bars with a hand-thrown soap dish. An incense maker whose blends deserve a vessel shaped for their fragrance. A tea merchant, a botanist/bonsai artist, a candle maker, a textile artist - if your work and ours can tell a richer story together, we want to build that workshop with you. Participants enroll in a Bayan clay experience, leave a ceramic piece they shaped with their own hands, and go home with your product as part of the story. This is not a vendor arrangement. It is a creative partnership - designed, promoted, and delivered together, for a community that is hungry for experiences that nourish the whole person.

The Spirit: Generosity, creative courage, and the deep satisfaction of making something that could only exist because two people said yes to each other.

    • Workshop formats: Series - Seasonal event

    • Revenue shared between Bayan Ceramics Studio and partner maker

    • Proposed and curated seasonally
