Bayan Ceramics

At Bayan Ceramics, we don’t just "run a business"—we tend to a community. Our name is rooted in the spirit of Bayanihan: the ancient Filipino tradition of a community coming together to achieve a task that no one person could accomplish alone. Traditionally, this was symbolized by neighbors literally lifting a house (Bahay Kubo) and carrying it to a new location.

In our studio, the "house" we carry is the art of clay. We believe that every pot fired, every wheel spun, and every student mentored is a collective effort. To keep our studio strong, we rely on three essential pillars: Center, Create, and Connect.

  • Pillar 1: Center - The Studio Manager

    The Foundation of our Studio

    Focus: Operations, Stability, & Leadership

Just as a pot cannot rise without a centered base, our studio cannot flourish without strong organization. This pillar is about holding the space so others can flourish.

The Role: You are the centrifugal force of Bayan Ceramics. You will be the right hand of Bayan’s owner and founder. You manage the memberships, the calendar, and the “vibe” of the studio. You ensure every artist who walks in feels grounded and supported.

The Spirit: Stability, hospitality, and a keen for the “big picture” of our communal home.

  • Pillar 2: The Technician

    The Fire of our Craft

Focus: Technical Excellence, Glaze, and Kiln Science

Creation is a collective act. Our technical team ensures that the vision of every student and member is safely transformed from raw earth into finished art.

The Role: You are the guardians of the fire. From precision of the Lead Tech to the essential support of our Assistants, you manage the loading, firing, and glazing cycles that make creation possible. You will support our team, our studio, our gallery and our events.

The Spirit: Diligence, technical curiosity, and a deep respect for the transformative power of the kiln.

  • Pillar 3: Contract Instructor

    The Bridge to Our Community

    Focus: Education, Mentorship, and Outreach

Bayanihan is nothing without connection. This pillar is about passing the torch (and the clay) to the next generation of makers through shared knowledge.

The Role: You are the voice of the studio. Whether teaching a beginner’s wheel class or a masterclass in hand-building, you bridge the gap between “I can’t” and “I made this.”

The Spirit: Patience, storytelling, and the ability to foster a sense of belonging in every student.
